Virgil called Lake Como ‘the greatest lake’ and Shelley claimed that it ‘exceeds anything I ever beheld in beauty.’ Destinations always weave in and out of fashion but there is a reason why Lake Como remains a heavyweight. Despite the numerous summer crowds, this romantic playground firmly adheres to its hype. Less than one hour drive from Milan, Lake Como’s prowess is in its sprawling views, ripe with glamour, in it’s with manicured gardens which roll down to the water’s edge and in its grand neo-classical villas. Shaped like an upside-down Y, villages like Cernobbio, Bellaggio, Blevio and Tremezzo are dotted around and the best way to explore them is by a small boat.

Casa Toldino is a self-catered and private property located in Cernobbio, in southern Lake Como and just a short walk to the famous gardens of Villa D’Este. It’s also the first house on Lake Como to receive a climate R certificate (an official recognition for sustainable methods)

We absolutely love this property (and its sister property just down the road). The views are enough to book a one-way ticket straight here. The property has 3 queen-sized double bedrooms and an outdoor area covered in foliage where you can enjoy an alfresco dinner with friends and watch the boats float by. It’s also only a four-minute drive down to the lake

Casa Toldino sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms. The host, Jennifer also owns another property, Lovely Cascina, just down the road.
